GOODBYE GLASGOW

Today is our last day at the school, in fact we received our cartificates but saying "goodbye" to our beloved teachers was surely pretty hard for us. At least now we know we've improved our English and we are returning to home with a good experience to tell to our families and friends at home

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Today we visited the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum,it  has 22 galleries, housing a range of exhibits, including Renaissance art,  taxidermy , and artifacts from ancient Egypt. It is adjacent to  Kelvingrove Park  and is situated near the main campus of the  University of Glasgow  on Gilmorehill (Near our hotel). The museum was interesting and I enjoyed visiting it.
The Clydeside Distillery Today we visited the Clydside Distillery. There were a man who told us the history of the Whiskey and the history of the production. This building is located next to the Clyde River, and it has a museum on the inside. The Clydeside Distillery is located within the Pumphouse building which once controlled entry into the famous Glasgow Queen's Dock. The Pumphouse was originally designed to provide hydraulic power to operate the swing bridge, servicing the commercial dock which witnessed the export of whisky with ships destined for all continents of the world.

A Saturday full of activities...Clydeside distillery, Stirling Castle and Transport museum.

Today we spent a day full of activities ... I will try to tell our day through the best photos we have taken ;) ... This morning we visited the Clydeside distillery in Glasgow... it was really interesting because in a few hours we learned so much about a topic that was a bit unknown to us ... a very kind guide, who works in the distillery, showed us the various machines used to produce such a special and refined drink that is whiskey... This is the most expensive bottle of whiskey that we saw...incredible!! 3000£!! finished the tour in the distillery we went to Stirling to visit the famous castle .... renowned because located in the place where one of the most famous battles in Scotland was fought... here a picture of all of us in the throne room, with a giant Christmas tree behind us... and here another our photo in the company of Queen Mary and her lady companion, in perfect medieval atmosphere... to ...
Waiting for Christmas at the Stirling Castle On the 14th of December we went to a journey to the Stirling Castle, nearby the war against English took place: in fact it is possible to se, from the top of the hill where the castle is settled , the huge monument that Scottish people built for him. Another leading character of the struggle against English is Sir Robert the Bruce who, after William Wallace death, declared himself the heir of the Scottish crown and kept fighting for Scottish independence. He manage to defeat English army and to rise a new and free country...due to this, at the entrance of the castle has been built a statue to remember him as a hero as much as “BraveHeart” Stirling castle is one of the most important and beautiful buildings in Scotland. Inside one of this giant empty rooms there were a Christmas tree and the two thrones of the rulers...

Italian food in Glasgow

On Thursday 12th December we had dinner in an Italian restaurant called Baffo. I was looking for something different to eat in Glasgow and I found it! Since I went inside I felt like I was in Italy. If you want to know how Italian cuisine is you might try this restaurant!!!

Don't have sun? Christmas lights should make it

Christmas + long and early nights sure make they enjoy using more of those beautiful lights and decorations, placed on every type of building, old or new This is what we see right after we finish our lessons. Waking up and finishing school at night sure makes us nostalgic about the Italian sun
The national museum of Edimburgh. In last sunday we went in Edimburgh for visiting the city and especially the national museum. When we arrived we first visited the historical part of the museum where we ha the opportunity to learn al the fact that charachterised Scotland‘s story. Then we visited the science part, where we found the famous goat Dolly. Sunday was a good day except the wheater because it rained all the day.
Dolly Dolly is a cloned sheep exposed in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. It was strange for me to see dolly embalmed and exhibited at the museum. It was the first mammal to be cloned from a somatic cell.

Traditional Scottish Dinner

On Monday 9th December we had dinner in a typical Scottish pub. It wasn't crowded but there was a magic atmosphere thanks to all the Christmas lights and so many decorations. I decided to try the Steak Pie, a typical dish of Scotland and its taste was very good...and trust me it was worth it!
Yesterday we went to a Pub in front of Kelvingrove Museum. Albeit it was full of people, we still ate really fast because the food arrived 6 minutes later! There were a lot of thing I liked, the food, the pub itself, but the thing I liked most was the atmosphere...Christmas's atmosphere is coming!!
Today, at school, we did a test, but not a simple one, it was a C1/C2 test. We didn't expected such a difficult text, but the teacher told us to keep calm because it would have been normal if the test had gone wrong. In fact it didn't go very well(I took 18/45),but it was useful  because I learned a lot of difficult words  and how to use them, so I am satisfied with all this.

Medieval atmosphere in Scotland

On December 8th we had a trip to the Edinburgh castle and in the air we could already feel a medieval atmosphere :)) In the royal rooms of the castle there was a historical museum with medieval paintings... A specific safe room was set up to house the crown jewels, some weapons and scepters.... Another really charming room remembers the past.  A large fireplace was the protagonist of the room and a medieval style ceiling added a touch of elegance... Here a photo of a statue of a lion, symbol of a noble Scottish family (and me :)) )... The courtyard of the castle, finally, summarizes the medieval conception. This was a really beautiful day in Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Castle This Sunday we visited the city of Edinburgh and in particular its castle. The city is divided into two parts, the new city, that is the lower part of the city and the old city, that is the upper part of the city. Edinburgh Castle is located in the Old Town part and was built on top of a hill. Edinburgh Castle is an ancient fortress, which from its position at the top of the castle rock dominates the panorama of the city of Edinburgh. The castle has been inhabited since the 9th century BC The structure of the current buildings dates back to the 16th century, with the exception of the Chapel of Santa Margherita which dates back to the early 12th century. It is the oldest building in the city of Edinburgh, united intact to the present day. Like all castles, the fortress of Edinburgh has always been a center of military activity. Among the ancient fortunes of the whole of Great Britain, Edinburgh Castle is among the few that can boast a permanent military gu...

At 7 'o clock we went to the KFC of a commercial center and then we had dinner.

Scottish Pub

Oh yesterday was a really hard day, infact after the English course at school, I had to do my homework of my Italian school, but the day has improved in the night because with the teacher and tree friends we went at the Islay Inn, a typical Scottish pub where we ate a fantastic fish and chips and a steak and ale pie. I recommend it to everybody 👌😍

Edinburgh Castle

Yesterday we went to Edinburgh Castle, an incredible building which has more than two thousand years. From the top of the castle, you can see most of the city, it's a beautiful view!

Lions in Scotland?

What a lovely family, but no worries, they won't bite. In the zoologic section of the Scottish National Museum in Edinburgh, there are many species of animals, even extinct ones, like some dinosaurs, insects and even early mammals!
Last meal with prof De Lucia and Prof Meaglia  On last Saturday we have been into a place known for his brunch and we had the chance to try another type of meal. If you don’t know what I’m talking about: brunch is a word composed by breakfast + lunch and if you have brunch you are not supposed to have neither breakfast nor lunch; it might be salad, sweet or both. Personally I got only a smoothie made by strawberry and coconut called coco-berry because I wasn’t so hungry, But if I had been hungry I would have taken pancakes covered with chocolate and maybe a cappuccino (even if only in Italy we do that in the right way..) It was our last meal with our two teacher that switched few days ago with prof Razza and prof Meaglia
The Millennium Clock This strange clock is 10 m high. It’s divided into three parts: a base, a middle and the top. At the base of the tower is the Crypt  made of a combination of wheels and chains, an oak figure of an ancient spirit and  a colorful egyptian monkey. In the centre, there is a pendulum with a skeletal death figure straddling a convex mirror. At the top of the Spire is the PietĂ , a female figure carrying a dead man, symbolizing mournings and compassion for humanity. It runs from 11.00 to 16.00 with a strange dance..

National Museum of Scotland

The National Museum of Scotland complex in Edinburgh was established in 2006 by the union of the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland, containing collections of Scottish antiquities that tell the history of the country, with the adjacent Royal Scottish Museum, in which collections on science, technology, natural history and various world cultures are preserved.
Today we went to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland! We departed at 9:00 am, with a funny guy, dressed with a kilt. After an hour we finally arrived at the city capital. I think it's bigger than Glasgow and it's also more historical. As soon as we arrived, we visited the Castle of Edinburgh, the most iconic building of the city, located at the top of a hill, above an extinted volcano. I liked the contrast between volcanic rocks and the walls of the structure, and I also liked the entire trip to the castle. Later on, after the lunch break, we've visited the National Museum of Scotland, with a guide. She's explained to us different kind of historical things. I've understood most of the things she's said, even though it was boring. In the end we had a free time to visit the remain rooms of the Museum.

The Lighthouse

On 6th December we visited The Lighthouse, a place famous for the fantastic view you have from the top of the tower. After a lot of steps we reached the top of the tower, and we had a wonderful view as everyone said. In The Lighthouse we saw also a lot of houses in the form of a model and it was great. This sort of museum was free and for this reason I really enjoied it. I suggest to visit it if you are in Glasgow!
