Edinburgh Castle

This Sunday we visited the city of Edinburgh and in particular its castle. The city is divided into two parts, the new city, that is the lower part of the city and the old city, that is the upper part of the city. Edinburgh Castle is located in the Old Town part and was built on top of a hill.

Edinburgh Castle is an ancient fortress, which from its position at the top of the castle rock dominates the panorama of the city of Edinburgh. The castle has been inhabited since the 9th century BC The structure of the current buildings dates back to the 16th century, with the exception of the Chapel of Santa Margherita which dates back to the early 12th century. It is the oldest building in the city of Edinburgh, united intact to the present day. Like all castles, the fortress of Edinburgh has always been a center of military activity. Among the ancient fortunes of the whole of Great Britain, Edinburgh Castle is among the few that can boast a permanent military guarantee, even for reasons of representation, both the headquarters of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the 52nd British Infantry Brigade. It is also home to the Royal Scots and Royal Scots Dragoon Guards museums. The administration of the castle depends on the Ministry of Defense of the British Government. The castle is now a museum and is the most visited in the Scottish capital.

A Very Special Day

O n Friday 30th November we had an exciting afternoon at the University of Glasgow, one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, since 1451(year of its foundation). Inside the building there's a History and Science Museum called the Hunterian Museum in which there were a lot of interesting objects and historical remains from different times in history such as old roman shoes and stuffed animals  including internal organs!! This place is worth the visit.
On 27th of November some students of my school and I left Rome to land to Glasgow in order to participate to a European project concerning the Europen citizenship and the English language. For the next three weeks we will attend an English language course in the city centre of Glasgow. This photo was taken at the very moment we arrived in Edinburgh. Look at the huge capital letters! We took a picture altogether after almost six hours of exhausting travelling.

Our trip to Scotland(1st day)

On the 27th November my English group and I left from Rome to Glasgow to participate to a European Project. Our trip lasted 6 hours - we had to take two flights - due to a stopover in Frankfurt where we stopped for 50 minutes. When we arrived in Glasgow it was colder than we expected, but luckily there was a bus waiting for us and we arrived to the hotel almost an hour later. A Foggy Day

When we got out of the hotel to go to school, this was the weather like that morning. I was really surprised also because temperature was -2 degrees! It was really cold during all the day and you can imagine our joy when we finally went back to the hotel after an entire day out.
On Sunday 1st  December my classmates and I visited one of the most fascinating attraction in Glasgow: The Science Museum. It wasn't the first time, I went there also last March, but I enjoyed the visit so much because I'm attending the last year of school in a Scientific Lyceum and I love everything related to science and subjects like that. After visiting the Museum, we assisted to a fantastic live show in the Glasgow Planetarium, a huge room in the museum dedicated to this kind of shows and in my opinion I can surely say that this was the most interesting part of our scientific journey in the museum because we experienced a fantastic half an hour in which we orbited around the space, passing from a planet to another one, listening to a detailed - and quite understandable - voice over commenting everything.
